Research Resume Workshop Part I: Creating the Resume & Networking

Room JSOM 2.115 

Students receive valuable advice on how to prepare a scientific/research-oriented resume or to strengthen an existing research resume. The workshop also covers best practices for approaching the research interview, guides students in preparing their best presentation during Undergraduate Research Match Day and offers tips on steps for post-event networking.


UT Dallas Research Matching Portal & Research Profiles Demo with the Office of Research and Innovation

Monday, April 15, 2 to 3 p.m. 
Room JSOM 1.107

Come learn how to use the UT Dallas Research Matching Portal with the Office of Research and Innovation. Students will also learn how to use the UT Dallas Profiles webpage to strengthen their knowledge of the research that faculty is conducting. This is a great opportunity for students to strengthen their knowledge of the additional resources UT Dallas has to offer students on how to gain insight on the research happening at UT Dallas and beyond.


Undergraduate Research Panel with UT Dallas Faculty and Student Researchers

Undergraduate student researchers and faculty researchers share their research experiences, tips on competing for research programs and fellowships and strategies for obtaining the ideal research position.


Research Resume Workshop Part II: Reviewing the Resume

Tuesday, April 16, 8 to 11 a.m. 
Founders Building (FO) 2nd Floor Atrium

Students will receive valuable in-person feedback on their scientific/research-oriented resume after attending the first part of the Research Resume Workshop. This event will help students prepare their best scientific/research-oriented resume, especially for Undergraduate Research Match Day. Representatives from various schools and departments will help students in-person on their scientific/research-oriented resume.


Undergraduate Research Scholar Awards Poster Contest Symposium 2024 

Tuesday, April 16, 2 to 5 p.m. 
Visitor Center & University Bookstore Atrium (VCB) 


Current recipients of the Undergraduate Research Scholar Awards discuss their research with event attendees, utilizing a research poster and their in-person research presentation skills. Research faculty members judge and select the strongest projects representing each academic school. 

Public presentation of research through poster presentations is an important component of an undergraduate student’s research journey. All research disciplines and undergraduate academic groups are represented during the symposium, and participants enjoy the opportunity to speak in-person to members of the internal and external UT Dallas community about the significance of their work.


Undergraduate Research Match Day 2024  

Wednesday, April 17, 4 to 6 p.m. 
Visitor Center & University Bookstore Atrium (VCB) 

Undergraduate Research Match Day is open to all undergraduate students and is designed to facilitate the process of pairing motivated students with faculty who are conducting research projects. Student attendees should be prepared to articulate their qualifications and ask questions regarding what type of work the faculty member needs assistance with, the number of hours expected while working in their lab, and the work environment (for example, will you work in a lab where you will be expected to wear long sleeves and closed-toe shoes?). 

How to prepare for Match Day: 

  • Attend the Research Resume Workshop. 
  • Attend the Faculty/Student Undergraduate Research Panel. 
  • Create or update your resume and bring multiple copies with you. 
  • Prepare questions that you want to ask faculty members.
