Examity® provides online proctoring of the ALEKS assessment for UT Dallas. Please read below for more information.


After you have taken the ALEKS exam unproctored, Examity® will provide you an account within three business days even if you decide not to use them. You will receive an email at your UTD email account from them with login information in case you intend to use them.

Examity® System Requirements

  • You must take the exam on a desktop computer or laptop (not a tablet, Chromebook or cell phone).
  • Disable any pop-up blockers.
  • You must have a working built-in or external webcam and microphone.
  • Your Internet speed must be at least 2 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload. Hot spots are not recommended. Determine your Internet speed by running a test at:

Payment and Testing

After you have logged in to Examity®:

  • PLEASE NOTE: If you schedule and pay for an exam but do not have the necessary equipment or connectivity you may not be issued a refund should you encounter related difficulties.
  • You will pay after you select a day and time that works for you.
  • You will be brought to a secure payment page immediately following where they accept all major credit and debit cards.
  • Currently, Examity® will charge $15.75 for the first hour of proctoring and $7 for each additional hour. You may test immediately or schedule for another day.
  • Examity® requires more than 24 hours notice for online proctoring.
  • There will be an additional charge for setting up a proctoring time under the 24 hour window.
  • Cheating will invalidate your test for placement purposes.

When you are ready to test, Examity® will begin Live Authentication:

  • You will have 2 hours to complete the assessment.
  • Have a pencil and plenty of blank scratch paper.
  • You may not use your own calculator. ALEKS provides an online calculator.
  • You may have no other material.
  • Do not log into ALEKS until after you have logged into Examity® and begun the Authentication. This will help ensure that Examity® knows it is you, the student, taking the exam.
  • If you are already logged into ALEKS before the Live Authentication, you will be prompted to log out of ALEKS and log back in.
  • NOTE: Examity® may have the ALEKS link available to you however you should have the link provided in the ALEKS payment email ready in case you need it.

Once you are into the test (meaning after the proctor enters a password):

  • The proctor drops off but they will continue to record your screen and webcam up until you submit your test.
  • It is critical that you stay connected to the screen sharing application until you submit your test.
  • Cheating will invalidate your test for placement purposes.
  • If you need assistance while testing, you should contact the Examity® Support team and a member of their support team will bring the proctor back into the screen sharing session with you to help with whatever assistance you need.
