Project on Innocence Seminar

Students may participate in a seminar (PSCI 4396.HN1) where they work with the Innocence Project attorney to evaluate prisoners’ claims of actual innocence. Students examine court documents, witness statements, trial transcripts and other evidence to determine whether there is enough cause to request a trial on the basis of new evidence. Many of these cases involve use of DNA evidence, but increasingly the Innocence Project is examining other claims of innocence such as mistaken eyewitness testimony and junk science. Students interested in taking the seminar should contact instructor, Natalie Roetzel.
